Living paycheck to paycheck can bring stress to any worker. One bad situation or crisis, can send the worker over a financial cliff. It is hard to be successful in the workplace if you are struggling to pay your bills.

Money problems can have a negative effect on your job in the following ways:

~ Money problems will limit your career options. ~
Having a lot of debt can keep you stuck in a job you hate, or an industry you don’t want to be in. You may not be able to explore other options, because you need the money. Conversely, you may have to leave a job you enjoy, because you need a higher paying position to meet your financial obligations.

~ Money problems are extremely stressful. ~
If your finances are out of control and overwhelming, it will most likely effect your workplace performance. Rare is the person who can separate a stressful personal life from work. There is nothing more stress inducing than knowing your earnings are not going to cover your bills. In addition, it is hard to concentrate on work (or anything else) when you are getting frequent overdue notices, or calls from debt collectors.

~ Money problems can damage your reputation. ~
If your money problems become apparent, your bosses, clients, or co-workers may view you as incompetent. Especially, if you are in a managerial, or finance-related, postion.
